Our resident wine expert Steve Hayes will be presenting a range of different wines from the Alsace region of Eastern France. Steve will walk us through a handful of carefully selected wines for our appreciation.

We are very pleased to announce that the Pontardawe Heritage and Visitors Centre will be hosting an exhibition all about the Twinning Association, which will be opened by The Mayor, Rebecca Phillips on Saturday 2nd October at 11 am. This exhibition looks at the creation of the the Twinning Association and highlights the adventures we’ve been though, with videos, photographs, paintings, stories and artefacts. Come and see the recently rediscovered beautifully hand painted charter and the silver Breton piper sculpture on show.

2020 was one of our most challenging years following the pandemic and cancelling of our trip to see our wonderful friends in Locmine. We were most saddened by the death of Kevin Flynn, early on in the pandemic but there was a fitting tribute in the local newspaper of Locmine.
Since then we have held a fabulous Zoom quiz with our friends from Locmine and Pontardawe in the summer. It was so good to see many members and remember we are not alone.
From this point forward, we will be holding monthly meeting with lots of home-based fun. At the end of March, we will be having a St David’s Quiz. More info to follow.

Our friends from Locmine came and were introduced to their lovely Welsh families to spend an evening relaxing and getting over their journey. The following day was a beautiful sunny day, where we visited the Royal Mint, had a fantastic picnic and a brilliant chance to explore St Fagans Musuem. Saturday was then a chance to enjoy being with the hosts and were treated to a day out in Cardiff, canoeing, beach and sea swimming and much more. The evening Soiree was held in the Castle Hotel, Neath with fantastic local harpist Caradog from Pontardawe.
It was a busy trip as ever, with lovely weather and as always a joy to see our friends, tip our hats to friends no longer with us and make new friends who joined us along the way.

It is with much sadness that we much announce the passing of 2 of our members. Jordi Alsina and more recently Malcom Woolley. Both much loved and long term friends of the Twinning Association, Much love and best wishes to all families in Locmine and Pontardawe.
